Since its
formation in 1976, the National University of Singapore Political Association
has been striving to cultivate political awareness among the student body by
means of intellectual discourse on domestic affairs.
However, it is
insufficient for the Association today to merely preserve the existing focus on
domestic issues. Being the primary student organization for political
expression and commentary in the University, it is imperative that the
Association evolves with the changing political circumstances of Singapore in
an increasingly porous world.
The Association seeks to actively embrace
meaningful and insightful discourse on affairs of global and regional
interests, so as to maintain its relevance in fulfilling the obligations of a
leading global university centered in Asia.
Among the
many tremendous changes our world has seen, the related issues brought about by
the rise of China have been actively debated by academics and policymakers. As
such, the Forum has identified the People’s Republic of China (PRC) as the
subject of interest in its inaugural Singapore-China Relations Forum.
